2021

No, I’m not going to spend blog time on lamenting 2021. Neither am I going to have a list of things I want to accomplish for 2022. I have in my mind how I hope things will go, following God’s plan for my life. And, if I get off course, I pray He’ll get me back on as quickly and painlessly as possible.

I am watching the pressure on a weather monitor rise and fall and have to smile. Winter is finally finding northwest Missouri. We’ve had a few cloudy, cold days. Some brief warmups, but not in the 60s or 70s like before. And, by the weekend, snow and sub-zero temperatures are quite possible. Just in time for New Year celebrations.

Welcome to the approaching new year. At least according to the Gregorian calendar that we’ve used in America since 1752. The switch from the Julian calendar took place in 1582, so we took a while to catch up. (If I have this information incorrect, forgive me). Some places say 10 days were lost in the switch; some say 11. Long enough ago I’m not going to worry about it.

And the point is? That time brings all kinds of changes that a few people instigate, impacting huge amounts of people. The season winding down is proof of that. All those years ago, a young girl giving birth to a boy that would literally change the world; and continues to do so. No list I make will ever make an impact like that.

So no, I’m not worried about writing down a list of goals for 2022. Neither am I suggesting others shouldn’t have goals and write them down. I’m a list maker and understand the value in them. But I’ve had for years a very basic list, based on God’s expectations for me in this Simple Life direction He gave me. Things that I attempt to continue working toward each year. And yes, there are certain new personal things I’d like to see happen, but the reality is, if God doesn’t give the approval, I know it will never bring the fulfillment I’d want.

So, however you might plan to bring in the new year, I hope you are safe and blessed, and know that God is still on His throne and still loves you!
